With the amount of time I spend (that I just don't have) perfectly cleaning up cut plastic, I'd like to find the best tool available.

I have always used a razor utility knife that I heat up with a torch until red hot. Hot Knife through butter.....

Best tool for the job.
Step drill bits and make swiss cheese behind the vent. It also leaves some material to support the mesh.
X2 on the just drill holes.

My preferred method
I run a step bit as it allows me to make nice patterns and leave plenty of structure behind the mesh as that is an issue i have had with excessive venting in the past is overly compromised panels.
