Default Best deep powder snowmobiling US

I live in Florida, every year take a week or two and go snowmobiling in Togwotee first week of January with my boys (b/c works with boys school schedule) and sometimes in February with friends, summers we dirtbike in Idaho. We are looking for something different with deeper powder very interested in Idaho because we are familiar with the singletrack trails across the state but I hear that the snow conditions vary tremendously year-to-year.

Interested in getting suggestions, Canada possibility too also looking for part-time cabin to purchase to use for snowmobiling and dirt biking and why Idaho is of particular interest if I could find the ideal place that offers excellent conditions for both. However, most important to me is going someplace awesome early January 2019.

I would say the 3 places in the country with the best chances of early season pow would be Cooke, Buff Pass/Rabbit ears or Wolf Creek Pass.

I should mention in CO, MT, and WY. I am unfamiliar with much of the riding west of there, but I know the snow gets denser as you go farther west.

I don't think there is anywhere in the continental US that ensures great deep powder riding every year during a predetermined time frame. I chose to move to SW Colorado for deep powder riding and a moderate climate along with fun summer backcountry opportunities IE jeep roads. MOST winters around here are epic. Last winter was not so much. Some winters I am riding powder by mid November, some winters the snow is marginal until mid January, last winter we didn't have powder days until the April storms came and I was able to get 3 pretty awesome weekends of heavier powder riding in. Montana would have been the place to be last winter but the same applies there, some winters just do not get the storms you would like.

Buying a place for riding is a bit dicey because mountain property just about everywhere is expensive. I just met some folks from Florida looking for summer property here. Problem was, the price of entry exceeded $400k for a small place and maint costs on mtn property is high as well. Most people have trouble coughing up half a million for a part time residence. GREAT idea IF you can afford it but just understand the costs and that mother nature can be pretty fickle about providing you with ideal recreational opportunities, no matter which venue you choose.

Revelstoke. Seems like their snow totals are always on the high side and they typically get snow early.

Lower 48 I'd probably say Cooke City perennially gets the most snow, but it can be hit or miss up there as well depending on the year.

Default Colorado

Colorado is off to a great start this season with way more snow in the forecast. Come try my place this year Thunder Mountain Lodge, Grand Mesa. You can fly into Grand Junction or Montrose and drive about 1 hour to the Lodge. We have Ski Doo 850cc sleds for rent if you want. You might even end up buying a cabin in our area, who knows. This is an affordable place to buy a part-time residence. Thundermountainlodge.net Thanks

Grand Lake, Colorado has what you're looking for, typically great snow AND dirtbike/atv trails all Summer. I wouldn't say property is 'cheap' here, but compared to other mountain towns, it's very affordable. Plus we have 3 lakes AND Rocky Mountain National Park that you can recreate on/in when you're tired of the dirtbikes/atv's in the Summer. About 2 hours from DIA, in good weather. I have lots of friends with 2nd homes here from out of state. Many buy an old 4x4 Suburban or Expedition and keep it close to DIA with a trickle charger on it.

Good luck!

Default Revelstoke it is this year

Revelstoke is where we decided for this year 60 feet of snow per year average sounds awesome thanks for the suggestions! We will be staying at glacier house resort from January 1 until January 7 and renting 850s for four days and a snow bike for one day from full speed rentals. Still looking for a guide if anyone has suggestions

Also thanks for the suggestions about Colorado I've been to Taylor Park dirt biking many times my concern about Colorado is too many extremist tree huggers that just want to control everything and make sure no one can have any fun. I could be wrong it's just the impression I get when I go there. Really hoping to find great place to live that has great snowmobiling and dirt biking in Idaho still open to suggestions don't want to be close minded though. If I am wrong in this perception please enlighten me.
