Generally iridium plugs are considered the longest lasting and has a better spark. so at that I run a br9eix and gap to ~ 20thou, I'd think you should never have to change a plug again. They've lasted a very long time for me and are rated for ~90k miles or so in many cars that do run them, so considering a sled will never reach near that.. haha

From what I've read, as boost and or compression increases, the resistance of the air increases making it harder for it to spark, so you can have times where the spark gets "blown out". reducing the spark plug gap greatly reduces the odds of that happening.
