First off, I love my Axys. There is however one major thing that I would do to improve it. I am guessing that Polaris is already putting some ideas on the drawing board for whatever will replace it in 2020 or 2021. Polaris could do a much better job than I did with all of their resources, but please take this crude prototype as what I think the future of mountain sleds should be. Back to that one major improvement… make it super narrow!!
Polaris, if you are listening: I will share everything that I learned while building this. Just contact me. Heck….come pick up my skinny sled and you can take anything from it you could possibly use. Just please build a super narrow Axys so that everyone else will have to put a “Wide Load” sign on their bumper.
My Skinny sled has a 32” ski stance, but I think 34-36 would be perfect. The compact narrow bodywork makes an incredible difference to how the sled feels. Even though they weigh close to the same, the skinny sled feels like I can handle it way easier just because it has way less bulk up front. Not only the mountain sleds, but I'm sure the trail sleds would love to have less bulk up front also. I know mine only has a 670 but the 800 HO should fit in real nice. It is a blast to ride.
The video below is kind of short but I was by myself testing and wanted to give proof that a sled this narrow can actually be done.
