Bought my first new sled (Summit X 850) and dealer was telling me 90% of people buy skid or float plates. I do Pacific Northwest mountain riding and we get some deep wet days. Should I bother buying one or the other or none at all?

I can’t speak for the doo’s but my Cats get a skid plate before they hit the snow. I wouldn’t ride without one personally. Especially in the mountains.

I see Sled Solutions has skid plates to cover the brake roter and the chain case on the opposite side as well as the full skid plate. That brake and chain case on a G4 are pretty exposed.
