Last two posts are spot on & why I didn't order a Poo 840. I don't trust them to get it right this first year. After 2 years of known issues Polaris still made few changes to fix failing relays, loosing RPM randomly & bogs last year. Good luck to all you 840 owners & if somehow they do get it right I bet it will be a fun sled.

Hopefully the 4-year Polaris warranty on the 840 motor is based on more than optimism. The dyno numbers are great but what I want from the Doo 850 and Poo 840 is some long-term durability and reliability!

Polaris long term reliability

As stated on here before my 2016 800 sks 155 has 8400 miles on it without so much as a fouled spark plug put Thunder products 911 clutch cover on it at 200 miles haven't touched the clutch or ever blown a belt. Now these are Upper Pennisula miles not mountain but still the best long term sled I've ever had. Previous sleds were 2011 assault & 2013 Pro 155.

None of us will own an 840, but there will be thousands who own the new 850 AXYS.

Not sure why those who ride other brands feel compelled to call it an 840.

Yeah, people say this all the time. I'm the type to go for it. I did the new 2007 D7, 2011 Pro, 2016 Axys. Never did I wish I waited until the following year. We are all part of R&D for these companies regardless of year. I just prefer to R&D the new machines as they come out!

Jesus man, stop beating the dead horse. It's a pro 850, it has an 840cc engine. Everyone knows this. Quit being an :censored:, Just let it go already
:focus:

Well said! :deadhorse: It's a little childish for sure. Kind of reminds me of name calling on an elementary school playground . . . :frusty:

Soooo . .. back to topic . . . 170 HP on this sled is going to be AWESOME to say the least. Then, once SLP or others develop a pipe and can for it, one could realistically see an additional 10-15 HP, and probably a 10-15 pound weight savings as well. THAT, my friends, would be far more fun to ride than a turbo sled!!

Agree to disagree ;)

Remember, you lose a lot of that at elevation.

It will be a fun stock sled no doubt though!

Also you earlier in the same thread....

"its ok but in the old days a pipe would give a cat 1000 190 hp 133 torque."

:violin:

It might be a great motor, we will find out soon enough. Just keep on trollin fellas

170 hp stock + someone quoted SLP twins at 20hp (no idea if that’s accurate)...nearly 190hp modern NA lightweight sled? That would put a serious hurt on ski doo’s 849

I'm putting a 840 sticker on mine so when I'm killing them Doo boys it will be just a little more depressing from them knowing the have a 10cc advantage and still losing.?

Yeah I was kind of thinking it was a good thing that we can call it the 840, so its even more embarrassing for the Doo Doo guys if it puts a hurting on the 850... but I guess we can’t call it that cuz it makes a some guys feel things :face-icon-small-con

Your dreaming right? A turbo 800 axys still beats it by 40-70hp depending on elevation. That 180hp at 10,000ft is 130hp. PG turbo can maintain close to 200hp at 10k. Not even close. As far as the other changes on the new 850 such as the front end, that is easily changeable on the 800.

I am a polaris guy all the way but I ride with 4 skidoo sleds, 2 800 t3 174, 850 with 165, and 850 with 175. That 175 is a total beast on the hill. Another coworker, fellow axys rider, rode the new 850 pro with a 174 and said it would not climb with the 175 skidoos they were with. Now I know there are a ton of variables but dont immediately think it will beat the 175 skidoo. Both are amazing sleds
