With the recent release and thus far HUGE success of the new 509 X5 Goggle, we wanted to be the first to take the new and old out of the package, and show you first hand the difference in size and vision.

Shown here, a direct comparison of the original Sinister Goggle, and the ALL NEW Sinister X5 Goggle!

Talk about increasing your visibility, without sacrificing the size of the goggle!! The goggle is 0.5" taller with an upward sloping frame that disappears out of your field of view (509 Calls this the Phantom Frame). This combination essentially does what the foam used to do (block any helmet/goggle gaps). So now its blocked with a positive field of view enhancing lens, rather than wasted with foam. The foam is also thinner. They can get away with this, due to the outrigger system that is also new on this goggle from the older sinister version. The Edge Pressure Outriggers, move the mounting point forward and fix it in one location, along even and consistent back pressure for a BETTER seal with less foam. The thinner foam also aids in better nose breathing, with less pressure on the sinus cavities.

If you have not yet purchased a new set of these goggles, you better get your hands on them quick, as they are flying off the shelves!

I am curious how the field of vision on these 509 goggles compares to that of the Dragon NFX Snowmobile Goggles? Would it be possible to post a picture of the Dragon ones (from the rear) like the pic posted of the 509s? One can never go wrong with a larger field of vision . . . that's for sure!

Are they guaranteed to fog as bad as all the other 509 garbage googles?

While this may have been your experience, lets try to stay on track here, as there are clearly hundreds of thousands happy customers out there with the product. Not sure what your experience was, but if there is something that we can help you with that 509 did not, let us know.

Thanks for the picture. So pretty much the same as the old sinisters then. I really like the additional field of vision on the new ones! :) Sure wish the polarized version wasn't $109 though.....yikes! :(

Thanks again !

Maybe you should try a pair of their goggles. Own five pairs and not an issue with any of them. Supporting equipment plays a big part in fogging issues not just goggles.

Very true! I have found that the seal along your cheekbones and over your nose is the most important, as that is where your breath can enter and ANY goggle will fog up if that seal is not good. Just gotta find a pair that fits your face right and fits your helmet properly . . . .and life is good :)

Agreed, 509 goggs with KLIM helmet has been rock solid for me. Goggles that fog is not always due to the goggles....

Will 509 stop prodution of the sinister goggle now the 5x is out?

Chris, yes the production of the original sinister has now been finished. You will be able to get lenses for a couple years yet but even those will slowly fizzle out.

As to the price point, yes they are up there with some of the premier brands in the industry, but from what we have seen with purchases, most feel you get what you pay for.

As noted above, the fit of the goggle to your face and to your helmet is key. We have a few pairs of 300+ dollar goggles here in the store that we can even get to fog with the wrong fit. And we also have $35.00 pairs that work well with the right fit. It is CRUCIAL to make sure they seal to your face. In our experience, 95% of the time if people have issues with fogging it is user error, no matter what goggle you have. The other 5% is usually mfg defects.

In theory the aviators and the sinister X5's should now be darn close to the same visibility!
