340 bog after new top end

I just put a new top end in a 1986 340 Sprint, which ran fine before the rebuild, and now it bogs out and dies when the clutches engage. If I pick the back end up it will open up and run. I was thinking it is something in the clutches but they appear to be working properly. Any thoughts and thank you in advance!

Did you get the spring in the secondary in the correct hole and wind the spring before engaging the helix against the rub bumpers? Sounds like the clutch is not keeping the CVT in low range to take off.

I should have been more specific, I put new pistons, rings and a gasket set in the motor and it ran fine before the work. It seems like it could be in the clutching though since it seems to work ok as long as the is no load on it. Might have to pull the secondary apart to see.
