I've received many PM's about this topic... so I thought I'd check with my sources at Polaris.

The Chaindrive AXYS-Mountain sleds ALL have the same tunnel-to-lugtip clearance with a given track. Even with the front cooler.. the SKS does not have any less clearance than the PRO or Assault... The cooler does NOT protrude more into the tunnel.

On the SKS / Assault / PRO-RMK With the chaincase.

Gearing on the SKS / Assault with the 2.25, 2.4 & 2.6"-lug tracks.
Top gear = 20 tooth
Bottom Gear = 40 Tooth
Gear ratio 2.00:1
Chain pitch = 72
Track Pitch= 2.86"
Driver Size = 7 tooth
Center-To-Center distance, Jackshaft/Driveshaft = 197.2 mm (same C2C on QD sleds too)

For comparison to a PRO-Ride RMK with 8-tooth drivers would give a Final drive ratio of Approximately 2.23:1 (under-drive factor is .88 for a 7-tooth, 2.86"-pitch driver)

On the 3"-lug track equipped AXYS which all feature the chaincase.
Top gear = 19 tooth
Bottom Gear = 44 Tooth
Gear ratio 2.31:1
Chain pitch = 74
Track Pitch= 3.0"
Driver Size = 7 tooth
Center-To-Center distance, Jackshaft/Driveshaft = 197.2 mm (same C2C on QD sleds too)

For comparison to a PRO-Ride RMK with 8-tooth drivers would give a Final drive ratio of Approximately 2.52:1 (under-drive factor is .92 for a 7-tooth, 3"-pitch driver)

Note... The C2C length of the Jack/Drive-shafts has increased by only 6mm (just a hair under 1/4")

The 2011-2015 PRO RIDE's had 191.2mm C2C.
I would imagine that this was to accommodate the new QuidDrive (aka "belt-drive") NEW sprocket sizes.

So, to get an apples to apples comparison, do you take your underdrive ratio (sleds with the 7 tooth) and multiply that to the gear ratio of any sled with the 8 tooth drivers? ex. 2.52x.92 to get what would be a 2.31 comparative gear ratio to a sled with 7 tooth drivers?

Re read and found where you said that.. ha.

You DIVIDE by the underdrive factor.

Example... 2.31 ÷ .92 = 2.52:1 (3"-pitch, 7-tooth driver with 19/44 gearing)

Also note... The Polaris Factory indicated comparitive-ratio is claimed at 2.23:1
This may be because of a minor variations in O.D. of a production driver
Calculated comparative Final drive would be 0.04:1 at 2.27:1

DEFINITIVE ANSWERS: GEARING COMBOS / TRACK CLEARANCE ON AXYS CHAINCASE EQUIPP...

Would the new X3.2 have enough clearance to fit under skids equipped with the 3" track?

Yep.

Yes it will fit.
And have sufficient clearance.

maybe under the skid.. ha

But... able to "fit", and having proper clearance are two different things.

A 3" track will move more air/snow than a 2.5" track... It needs MORE lug tip clearance than an shorter track... A 3.2" will need more than a 3".

The X3 tracks on 7 tooth drivers in the PRO RIDE is pretty tight ... I'm working on getting real numbers from Polaris on clearance on the AXYS-MTN sleds.
