Was just finishing up this project and thought I might share a few pics of the mods. This sled belongs to a high school kid who just started snowmobiling last season. Started out with a stock 97 MM and then scrounged up a cheap 159 x16 Challenger lite.$100 We put that on at the end of last season and morphed a 141 tunnel extension onto the 136 tunnel extenssion. Used rail extensions$20 Found a cheap set of nytro MTX takeoff skis.$100 Power inc. end dumps.$175
The sled had major clearance issues and the Challenger lite and ratcheted like crazy with the 8 tooth drivers so we tore it apart a few weeks ago and put one of my extended chaincase kits on it and installed a set of 9 tooth Doo extrovert drivers. While we had it apart I had the kid peel the graphics off sand the hood down so we could paint it Yamaha Blue. Used left over colors from other projects so only expense there was clearcoat.$30. We then found a Viper seat for $65. and installed some new slides. $30. He's gonna be saving up to get some Viper shocks for the front and we'll put a black sidehill strap on it but its pretty much done. It's certainly not the baddest MM out there but a pretty good one for a high scool kid on a buget. First pic's of sled with red hood is before the extended chaincase install.

a few more pics. We'll try to get it on the snow this weekend an get the rear skid dialed in. Right now the limiters are all the way out but I have a feeling I'll be sucking them up about halfway or I'll be adding more coupling to the transfer rods. Engine wise I think we'll be leaving it stock other than the pipes till he gets his riding skills figured out. Anyone got a cheap set of Viper or sxr front shocks lying around?

Orofino, Id
I'm not in Highschool, but could use someone like you to help build up my 97 MM. Took it out today in the Blues in Washington and it did decent, but an upgrade like that would be nice. How far into MT do you live as I'm in Orofino ID and could maybe get some pointers from you.

I'd be happy to help you out. Send me a PM with some info on what mods your sled already has if any. I'm located in the very Northwest corner of the state 40 miles from the Idaho Border. The MM can be a great mountain sled when set up right.

I am a PPG Gold Certified refinish tech. I have used thier products for the last 15 years. I would recommend having a professional paint your hood. If you must paint your hood yourself then be sure to use two-component products and use some type of flex agent.

Pm'ed you Jayonfreerider
Hey Customization! Only 13 and ridina MM... Good for you. I had a Tundra when I was 13. Lucky guy! The young man that owns the MM you see here is 17 and just started riding last year. He has less than $1800 wraped up in the whole thing.

Great build. Should see more of these sleds on the snow.

Can you tell me more about the extended chaincase, how much, from where you got it, install? Thanks, have an SRX 144 project going on and fitting anti ratchets would make my life soo much better

Montana?

That is soooo rad!! I've got a 2000 MM 700. Only upgrade is a better can and an upgraded secondary clutch. But wow man, I would love for my max to look like this. I live in Polson. What town do you live in and what is your contact info? I'd love to discuss where you picked up some of these upgrades and stuff.

TRIPLESWILLNEVERDIE, I would like to know a little more about the chaincase mod you did, and how that works.... How much clearance do you gain by doing this? Does it set the drivers back at all or just down? How big of a track can you run with 8 tooth extrovert drivers? Are these kits that you sell? If so, how much do you get for one? What is all involved to install one? Thanks.
