i can not get the old ultra to idle below 4000 without the choke i checked for bad seals, cleaned and ajusted carbs,adjusted choke i really dont know what else to do any ideas?

High idle is an indication of air leak. Keep looking. If it won't idle unless the choke is on then pilot jets are plugged up.

Check the carb boots for cracks, make sure that the boot to reed block bolts are tight, also make sure the plugs are on all of the primer nipples (if it does not have a primer installed). You said that you already cleaned the carbs, so you shuld know that the pilot circuits are not clogged. Use carb cleaner to check the crank seals, not something more volitile like starting fluid. Does the engine die when the choke is disabled or does it rev higher?
