Thanks guys... So I'm looking at buying a P 85 clutch off a 2017 Switchback assault 800 in particular. Not sure if that's the same axys primary or not? Thoughts..

That one will work with just weight and spring changes.

So am I right that the 2017 Assaults are all built on the new Axys platform?? If so a 2017 Assault P85 would be identical to my 2016 Axys P85?

Yes 2017 Assault and 2016 Axys are identical.

But you cant use one from 2011-2015, the cranks are different and it wont fit properly.

11-15 will fit only difference is the sheave angle so you would need to run the older belt. Lots of people run the axys crank in the non ho motor and use there stock clutch.

Sounds odd. I know somone who had their axys in a dyno, and experienced slippage between the crank and dyno. The shops dyno guy conluded it was because of different crankshaft between the axys and pro.

I believe the angles on the secondary are different as well... so a belt change with a earlier primary would not work in that scenario ??

.

Is this confirmed? Im switching between 3 different secondary clutches to test put different clutch setups. 2 of them are from pro ride, and 1 from the axys. Can't say i have experienced any problems with that.

Doing a parts search, the secondary assembly (which does not include helix or spring) for the Axys is unique to the Axys.

Can you put both primary and secondary from proride on axys and then use ... 115 belt?
Was there any problem to mount proride primary on the axys crank?is it the same clutch taper on both?

I think you guys might be way off and I expect I will catch 5hit for this but why do you think Carl's Cycle has been machining sheave angle changes and balancing of the older primary Pro-ride clutches for years? Supposively they said Polaris intentionally ran an"off" sheave angle on the primary that was to allow a softer engagement. True or not I have been using both Pro-Ride and AXYS clutches on the AXYS and really only see belt life improvement once we gear down. With this info I don't believe the secondarys have changed at all and I have changed them back and forth too.
I am sure Carl's can chime in hear with the truth as too much of this is hear-say.

I was going to say the same thing...Indy Dan was machining the primaries even before Carl's...without machining secondary's...

I don't claim to know if the Axys secondary changed from the Pro-Ride...

As for the OP's question, I would call IndyDan and ask him.

But LPIdaho had an interesting post. Does the 2017 Switchback Assault clutch and belt match the Axys? Or the Pro-Ride?

The primary clutch on the pro chassis are 12-14 dual degree angle and the axys primary is a straight 13 degree
