Track lifting

What are the advantages, if any to doing a track lift? I have been seeing alot of older sleds with these brackets towards the rear/middle of the tunnel that look like they made the sled sit higher. I am interested very much in this, as I dont like how my 95 ps 580 sits so low, but i do not want to put much money into it at all. So is this a technique that works or not?
Thanks - P:face-icon-small-coo

Flattens the angle of the track climbing onto the snow and gives more clearance between the running boards and the snow.

Floatation does no good when the track is hanging in air under the sled. Ask anyone that's riding a early model nytro!
