2010 D8 dies and wont restart

My sled dies about 30-45 minutes into most rides and I stop pull the cord and keep on trucking. Some times it happens a couple of more times but it always restarts and runs fine.


Saturday it was doing it and then it just didn't restart. Changed plugs etc.

luckily the tow out wasn't that bad.


Where to begin?

Sounds like it could be your VR, if it would just die and you could immediately restart it and on your way that would be my guess. They are about $80, If you do it to often it could take out your ECU.

I assume I can do this myself?


So change the VR, if it doesnt work go for the ECU? Can you check the ECU?



I should have paid better attention when this subject was a talking point :face-icon-small-ton

Been there done that! Replace the VR and try. If it doesn't run the ECU is toast also. When mine went out it took out the ecu. On the back of the ECU you could see it was melted.
