Why is this a 17 issue but not a 16? The paint on that weld on my 16 is flaked off leading me to believe it moved and cracked the paint...

Only guess was this is was a bad batch of steering posts. This only covers 6,000 machines and I would guess they sold more then that in total RMK's and SKS's for 2017. But that is just a guess.

Might be worth it to you to reach out to Polaris or have your dealer reach out to them and check on that.

The recall notice on Polaris's website says that no injuries have been reported. That's good news.

Had it happen to me

The post on my 2012 PRO 600 SB broke back in 2014 it failed due to a cold weld where top arm was attached to steering stem. I do not know why I did not get hurt as I was going at a go clip suddenly steering got very weird (would only turn one way). Open hood and found this.

Polaris Ride Command website for my sled lists it as a Pittman Arm Replacement. Bulletin #: S-17-02.

got mine in the mail this week S-17-02 . i'll see if the dealer wants to deal with it sooner than later. there's still another month left of riding out this way.

Not sure how it is out west, but as of yesterday the three dealers here in MN that I called either
1. Don't have the parts
and/or
2. Haven't even learned what's involved with the recall yet...

Don't you think a manufacturer would want the dealers up to speed before issuing a recall...?

Dealer here in Reno, NV has ordered the parts and has me scheduled for the fix on June 1. I will check with them next week and see if the parts came in.

mine has more play then i'd like so it's getting fixed on june 8th when the parts come in. i like how they waited until when they thought everyone was done riding before they issued a recall. we still have plenty of snow out this way.:face-icon-small-hap

Anyone get ahold of what's required to replace the part yet? Just curious if I need to worry about the dealer messing with the turbo or exhaust at all.

Dealer training to do repair.

My dealer in Fresno now says that the service dept must be specially trained to do this crucial repair. It was originally quoted at 45 minutes work.
He says they can't even order parts until this training is done. He said a month out!!! Did you guys who are having it done already hear that too???
Still 20 feet of snow here in the sierra.

Haven't heard about any special training to do the fix. I spoke to two dealers(Carl's in Boise, ID and Dupont's in Quincy, CA) and was told it takes about an hour. Polaris is giving them .8 hrs labor to do the job. The dealer in Reno told me it was a 4 hr. job.????? Don't know what in the hell they're doing that takes 4 hrs. Took Murph's advice and taking my sled elsewhere.

Had one done last week. Dropped the sled off at noon and picked it up that evening.

The other option is Auburn Extreme Powersports. They are right off the 80 on the Hwy 49 exit. I am good friends with the owner and his staff. Talk to Jake in the service department-- feel free to tell him I told you to call him.
