Looking at putting a turbo on my sled. Has 1500 miles and has had no engine work done, everything stock but clutching, can, and addressing the oiling issues (vented cap and turned up the pump.) I plan on doing a compression and leak down test before buying, anything else I should investigate before buying a turbo kit for a sled with this mileage? It has been a good one so far.

Installing turbo at 1500 miles

I wouldn't hesitate at all to throw a turbo on at 1500. We just installed a silber turbo kit on a 2012 pro with 3400 miles last year rode it at 7psi all season. Never popped a panel. It was pull and go. I just turned the oiler up and mixed a gallon of ave gas to 10 gallons of 92 and let it run.

I did exactly that threw one on pretty close to 1500 miles, rode the piss out of it for another 1500miles, had it back to stock for the mrs for another 100 or so miles ran great. Wouldn't hesitate one bit

I'd do a top end and reeds too at that mileage...much cheaper than if a piston skirt or a ring fails and takes out the cylinder head.

Top ends aren't that expensive, are easy to do, and the peace of mind would be worth every penny in my book.

Good luck with your new purchase!
