polaris 800 09 electrical issues

my 09 Polaris 800 assault is having electrical problems when I hit the reverse switch it seems to go into reverse it does but it knocks out the dash and doesn't beep n flash the orange light to fix the dash I have to pull the plug apart n put it back together n it comes back on hit reverse again n it goes off again ? the plug is the one in front of motor on left side of engine any sugestions

Is it on the most current voltage regulator? I think they are on revision 6 of those things

When it is running normal, not in reverse, is the voltage indicator on the right side of the gauge at full strength? If not, that is an indicator that the voltage regulator is having issues.

On the belt guard, at the very back, there is a bolt with the ground wires under it. Take the nut off and polish the wire connectors and alum and bolt it back down to make sure you have a good ground.
