Check codes w/engine out??

Will pulling my engine cause probs with dealer ability to check codes??

Just did a fresh topend and lost mag side @ 140 miles. Wanting to start getting engine pulled but would also like to know if any codes would point to a cause...

Start pullin engine or take to dealer first?
