How to: Reassemble Mechanical Reverse DD Planetary Assembly

For those of you that want rebuild your mechanical reverse diamond drives after a planetary gear failure, below is a parts breakdown of the planetary assembly and a series of pictures of how it goes together. Most of the time all you need is the planetary gear (~$180 from BDX - not on their website) and the rest of the parts can be cleaned and re-used. This is a huge savings compared to buying the full planetary assembly from AC. Sometimes the sun gear gets damaged when the planetary fails, in which case I suggest getting a new gearset from BDX as well (consider gearing down?). I also recommend using the BDX bearing and seal kit ($60) and your DD will be basically brand new again.

Edit: if you need the thrust needle bearing (part#2 below) it is a Timken NTA-2233
