15 or so miles and im due for a master cylinder replacement. Screwing around on a snowbank and she tipped over, broke the lower mounting ear off the reservoir...i guess that's what i get. Anyways i was shopping for a replacement and according to the parts diagram the sled is equipped with 2602-477 which is named "race" master cylinder. 2606-344 is another part number, which seems to be much more common. In fact ebay is loaded with them i can get one for 80$.

So i guess my question is, is there any major differences between the two? Can i get away with the 344? I will also be getting a shorter brake lever so this wont happen again

The 344 was used in 2012 and 13, then on the Viper and now on some utility/touring sleds. 2014 to current uses the 477. It should fit and work fine but as for the 344 being more common? Most likely old stock that is not moving. For the extra I would keep it current but that's just me. I don't think this happens a lot, it may have been a bit of bad luck. Babbits on line is a little cheaper also.

you can just buy the plastic resivior, cap and rubber ring if needed. I may have taken one off in the trees some place.... wish someone made a aluminum one.

Its defiantly was bad luck...but another factor was the length of the stock lever. I think i will cut my stock or find some sort of shorty lever

The stock resivour is a POS, I broke the resivour with a short Munster brake lever. Check the proclimb thread I posted the parts to upgrade to an older skidoo master cylinder in the proclimb section

Cat makes an aluminum replacement reservoir. Part number 7639-411 for black aluminum master cylinder, 7639-412 for the black aluminum cap

The difference between the two master cylinder kits is the size of the piston. Newer ones (race) have the 9/16 piston for more pressure at the caliper
