The other question to ask is what is your coolant temp when it starts to fade?

The ECU starts to retard past 127 degrees-- are you running stock thermostat or A different one?

Long pulls or heavy load and the stock thermostat can't flow enough, even in deep fluffy snow

My clutching right now is
Primary: 10 - 60's weights, blue/pink
Secondary: 56/42 .36. Black spring 155/222
19/42 gearing
Clutches in great shape cleaned
Elevation is 8-10k. See 11k but not much
clutch Temps not bad maybe a little on warm side, but again alot of on off throttle and long pulls, don't stop to cool very often

So I know my secondary spring should be black/purple but just bought sled and I wanted to see where I was at. I really would like full input on gearing with 19-46 I will need 74 link chain right?
I just want a hard pulling bottom end sled and looking for experience with low gearing. Thanks for input everyone.

This clutch set up is for a stock 800 Pro and running the 3211115 belt at 8-10,000 ft. For 6-8,000 ft run 2 gram heavier weights.

Primary:
Lightning weights. 270# rider 58 gram 150-180# rider 62.5 gram. If you need to drill them to lighten, you must drill the holes all the same size. Exception> you can drill the tip one number size bigger than the rest.
Primary spring. Stock 140-330 or the 120-310(7043681). Use the 120-310 if you had your primary sheaves cut.
The 120-310 will use a 1.5 gram lighter weight. Spider will need to be shimmed. Belt/sheave clearance set to .020"-.040" max. I don't like Polaris spec of 0"-.020". Any amount of heat in the clutch and it swells the .020" pretty fast. Less rolling resistance with it set a little wider.
SecondaryTSS-04:
Helix. 46-32F ER /46-34F ER. It is a special order/cut from Team. Full progressive. I run the 46-32F. Lower than 6000 ft and you can use the 46-34F instead of changing weights.
Secondary spring is a team blue/black or the polaris 120#-200#(7043152) alternative is a Red/Green 120#-220#(7043059)
Center distance on clutch's 11.5".
Max lead in .030". With a .030" float. We all know how to adjust belt deflexion.
Gearing: 74 pitch chain. 20-46 or 19-46. I bounce back and forth here, for myself, all others 19-46.
Something I found very important, Green/White exhaust valve springs.(7041786-03)
I know you keep an eye on your track tension. I had to mention it because I see a lot of RPM problems from the track rubbing the tunnel.
Engagement will be 41-4300. This set up works real well in the trees. Stays engaged and doesn't fall out like the stock style helix does.
With a cool pipe 7950-8050, warm pipe 8050-8150, hot pipe 8150-8250. If it starts to drop off on a really long hard pull with a hot pipe its the ECU pulling timing. I like the hot pipe it makes perma grin.
I would consider adding the $28 upgrade it will end a lot of running issues.

I hope this answered your questions.
*Rider weight is buck naked in the morning before breakfast. :)

OK thanks alot TRS I will use this as a great reference.
I'm going to change spring and gearing to the 19/46 and I'll start working towards your set up if I can't get mine dialed.
Very much appreciated.

8-10k feet
deep/steep terrain
Thinking 62grm weights, blue pink spring
Black spring secondary 155/222 with stock helix
I also have a black/purple to put in 160/240

it would be interesting to try just the gearing change and see whats
different on the hill
then try the blk/purple and try again
( remember to use blue locktite on the bottom gear bolt :face-icon-small-win)

Ran my 19/45 gear setup today, one word "WOW!"
What a difference, pulled way harder, carried more track speed on deep, steep pulls and really woke sled up.
Very happy with choice,,
I ran 60grm weights, blue/pink in primary
Secondary stock helix and black spring 155/222
Sled rips!
Pulled 8200rpm all day no fall offs at all..

Drilling some weights now. Trip coming next week. The 62.5g lightnings I bought actually weigh 62.8-62.9 grams. R u actually weighing them at all or just going with what they're stamped?

I weigh about 220 with backpack etc. Thinking I'll have one set at 61.00 grams for Cooke/TOW and a set at 59.00 grams for the Snowies where plenty of riding is above 10,000 feet..

Have TKI 2.42 gears and green white EV springs, belt sheave at .030" currently

Can someone answer a few questions about gearing a 2011 Pro 800 163...

- What is factory gearing?
- Is factory chain appropriate for 19/46 gearing?
- In general what will happen to my RPM if I change to a 19/46 gearing from factory.. will sled rev higher or lower at WOT?

Edit: are these the part numbers I would need?

CHAIN,HYVO.74P,3/4W

Evidently not. 3221191 is for some weird FST driveshaft. I can't find a part number for a Polaris 46t sprocket that fits the RMK. Looks like I'll have to order aftermarket.
