When someone has a chassis and they are already into the project, don't fugin insult them by telling them to sell that chassis and buy the one of your liking.

WTF?

They have what they have...and are doing to it what they can within their means. It's their choice.

Let see some pics of your sled now, so we can see progress as it goes, I love my older sled (in my signature) , but after the mods I have done and the conversions I have done I would be closer to buying me a Rev, but it sometimes easier to build an older sled where you can mod here and there especially if you don`t have the 4k or more to put down for a newer sled in one shot or able to finance, but my sled is set up as a somewhat rider forward with the newer and hight seat mod and higher handlebars and steering post moved forward and newer rear skid and skis along with weight loss, it has made a huge difference in how the sled feels and performs and is way more comfortable. I have seen my buddy when he owned this sled befor all these mods outride lots of newer sleds and climb higher too. Thats what a good rider can doo, (not saying I can or will be able to do that but gives me confidence in my sleds ability) whether I get that experienced or not.

just my thoughts and comments so please don`t bash my opinions. thank you.

newer cars obviously have newer technology too, but if the guy who enjoys building an old model a coupe or streetrod or camaro etc enjoys it and wants to throw a few grand into a shell whether its a car of sleds its just fun to build no matter what it is.

Good Luck, Darren

so how well dose the finger track work for boondocking and deep snow i dont do much high marking but that may change after this build and new found power i was considering the polaris 4 in 2.125 and the finger in 2.25 but havent figured out what to do yet.

I get chit for sticking up for the finger track...that's why I said that. LOL

The finger track is made for hooking up hard in all snowconditions. It finds that set up snow and gets traction on it...

Some illinformed people think the finger track is totally worthless.
Some think it's only good in above freezing spring snow.
Most realize that it hooks up best in anything that's set-up at all.
Others know it hooks the best in ALL conditions except snorkel-deep dry powder.

:)

i didn't say to sell anything. my question was why?! and i have the answer, build a hot rod type sled. i dont have a problem with that. and for the guy who said it was about money... like i said, he's going to be dropping at least 5 g's for the tunnel, motor, track and skid... AT LEAST and all i was saying is you could easily have a m series, rev, iq for that but if he'd rather do a hot rod style build, thats cool. jeez... everyone so sensative! go have a :beer;

oh wait, i shouldn't tell people to drink either, i guess that would be terrible too! oops

Once get that power under you i can almost guarantee you'll do some climbing, i rode a 97 RMK that had an 800 triple with all the works ( 200 H.P)
After about 5 mins i found myself pointing at a hill and holding the throttle to the bar, didnt have to worry about swerving for trees and what not...the sled would pick the skis up and fish-tailing up the hill :D i dont blame ya for building up the old iron they are so fun to ride
P.S. with that wc pushing 240 or so id prepared to have some stretched arms and your kohannes getting bigger

I've done a few of these, with good results.

Last year I bought a 900 RMK with the 166 and after 2 days on that thing it was almost a relief to jump back on my 700 (white one, started out a 97RMK wedge), I can throw that thing around with little effort and the 900 takes everything you have to pull it over or manuever through the tree's. The blue one is a 92 and I sold that last year.

Have fun. You gonna D&R the chaincase?

Oh yeah... check out my trailing arms when you get to that point.

I wasn't addressing any specific post....but we've seen posts like that hundreds of times on here. Sorry if you were pinched about my response.

I would like to say that some illinformed people are spreading rumors that finger tracks are the stuff. Also if they dig down untill they find something to hook up on your going to be going around like a farris wheel. FINGER TRACKS SUCK for all around if they did not every one would be using them. , guess what there not. Ill informed where did you come up with that one? HaHaHa Scott I hear viagra grows hair too, you know more traction for the girls in all conditions;):D Man i'm slow on this one.
