Can someone explain the differences between these 2 sleds besides the obvious, shocks, color, & some bracing.

It looks like on the website they have the same ski stance, would the cooling be the same, bar riser, etc.?

Im coming off a cat and could buy a '19 leftover summit and save myself 4k, get some accessories and look like a hero for spending less money in my wifes eyes! Lol

I know for sure on the longer tracks the boards r different. Just did a quick google search on the 146 sp and freeride and they also look different as well.

Had another look and both 146 models look to b stamped boards but just a different layout. Little hard to tell from the pics though. Either way no big deal.

After riding both on the same day. i would 100% go with the freeride. the longer boards make a big difference when wheelie'n. the Sp also feels extremely darty compared to the freeride. I like the reinforcements in the freeride also. And then there's the shock discussion. sucks to spend the extra money but in the 146 i'd go freeride. on my 154 i went SP and then put on the fox qs3 shocks which are awesome but not cheap.

My suggestion is if possible go for a 154. We have been experiencing extremely quick hyfax wear with the Summit SP 146 with the T-motion suspension. We had 4 2017 SP 146 Summits and consistently had to replace hyfax every 1000 miles or less. We currently have 2 2019 Summit SP 146 and 2 2019 SP 154. I have had to replace the hyfax on one of the 146 sleds with less than 500 miles. It was wore to the rails. The second 146 has 300 miles and will need the hyfax replaced by 500 miles. The 2 154 Summits each have 2300 miles and the hyfax still looks good. All sleds are ridden in the same area under the same conditions. We also have a 2015 Summit SP 154 with the T-motion suspension that has short of 5000 miles and the hyfax have never been replaced.

Summit SP 146
-Non rebuild-able shocks
-36 Inch ski stance
-High elevation clutching only

Freeride 146
-Pro 36/40 shocks. Compression adjustment and rebuild-able
-38 inch ski stance
-High and low elevation clutching available
-thicker running boards for taking jumps
-slide rail reinforcement

That's how I see it.. Basically if you don't plan on jumping, then the summit is for you.

I've never wore a set out on my 146's. Likely the conditions. Over 1500 miles on one of them and hardly any wear at all. Maybe 1/4 worn.

Doesn't the freeride have longer tunnel coolers too? I'm going to snow check a sled and i'm looking at the 146 freeride hard. Last ski doo I had was an 09 800 and it was a pile. So ready to try ski doo again.
