The stock tunnel extension is still on there (for strength).
I made a new extension from aluminum that slips right over the original.
First cut off the lip that holds the mudflap. Since the original is inside the tunnel, the new one fits nicely over top and will sit flush with the tunnel. I then welded extensions on the original bumper and bolted it to the original holes. Did a bit of massaging to the plastic and it looks like a factory finish.

BTW, some say you don't need a tunnel extension, but the flap will get sucked in all the time. When I did the change, I installed the suspension without any shocks so it could collapse all the way, and the track would catch the 136 tunnel ext.

Of course i have the resources to do this and cost me about $10.
Hah, it probably would have been easier to purchase a $100 extension but what's the fun in that?

These are our XLTs (mine and my wife's). We bought them last year with less than 1000 miles on them (still new to sledding). The first two pictures are right after we got them, the rest are since the mods I made this fall.

My wife's (the one with the yellow snow flap and idler wheels) is a 97 sks, fitted with an xtra lite rmk skid that works well with the xtra 10 in front. Mine is a 96 sp with an edge rmk skid and xtra 12 in front. I also added reverse and e-start to both.

how did you make the seat mount

I used the tanks that go with the seats so I didn't have to do any fabricating to mount the seats (these aren't the aggressive chassis so there's no cooler at the back of the tunnel). I had to change the oil bottle to make the edge tank work. The original oil bottle stuck too far back and the tank wouldn't go far enough forward. The dragon tank went into place no problem.

I like that machine, it looks good. I still don't see why a guy needs to buy a new machine, the old ones work just as good or better for much less invested and are way easier to work on. Besides, they don't get much better lookin' than the ol' wedges....
