Buying new Beacon, need feedback on the Ortovox S1

Great first post. To bad we don't have more newbies asking about avy gear. I like the Pieps DSP the best and thats why I sell them. The only other one I would recommend would be the pulse.

Orotovox S1

First, I don't sell beacons, am not a retailer, and have no reason to promote the S1.

Having said that, I own every beacon on the market, in some cases multiple numbers of different beacons. Why? I teach avalanche courses, and I have to know how each and every beacon functions. What is the best beacon? The one your partner is good with, but for yourself, you can't go wrong with the S1. My advice is at least one person in a riding group (4-6) own one. Why? The visual search display can allow someone with the S1 to DIRECT searchers, probers, etc. and makes the search that much more efficient. There is no going the wrong way with the S1. You go to Search, and begin to save lives.

I do not represent Ortovox, I am not a retailer, and I have been teaching avy courses for many, many years. Buy an S1 and never look back.

Other digital beacons are very, very good, but the S1 is truly great.
