What year and model of 580? There were single exh. port and triple exh port models and 38mm and 40mm carb models and 38mm altitude compensating and 38mm non compensating depending on what the sled is.

96 powder special with altitude comp. It ran good for about 5 rides then started acting like it was getting way to much fuel. I would assume the alt comp went out but I didn't think those could go bad.

370 jets are about right. Check to see that all the hoses are hooked up and are not cracked or leaking. If a hose is off or leaking, I believe it defaults to full rich.

I had a 97 Powder Special with altitude compensator at 5-7K elevation I ran 380's early season with colder weather and 370's in spring when it was warmer. I do have an altitude compensator off from a 97 Powder Extreme. I do not know if they were the same.

Ahh I see. That could be my problem then the boots that connect the box to the carbs are gone and they're are missing vent tubes. What about getting rid of the system all together?
