After being super pissed/critical of the 2017 850, I have to say, the 2018 sleds I have are amazing.
I had a 2017 154 Summit and a 2017 165 Summit. Liked the chassis over the XM, but would have preferred the 800 engine, couldn't make a belt last 200 miles before it was worn beyond deflection.
This year 2018 Freeride 154 and 2018 Summit 175. Holy sheeit, love them. Nothing like my last years sleds. Maybe I had turds last year, but the 2018 are completely different.
I am not sure that my 2017 850 sleds would even do 60mph. Axys sleds were killing me in drags. My top speed on my 175 this year so far is 75mph, and I let off, still pulling hard, a little freaked about a 175 3" track spinning that fast under my nuggets. 79mph on the Freeride so far not even sure where I did that. 154 3".
I haven't even looked at my belts yet, I am sure they need adjustment, but I think they are good, 55 miles on 175 and 120 on 154.
Doo f-ed us last year boys, maybe they are redeeming themselves this year?

had a 17 165 last year as well and drove me to Polaris. Checked a 155 Pro. good to hear about 18's, and Im not closing the door on the Doo. from sounds of it, the Poo are kind of disposable anyway. I get a new one each year and will have no issues checking a 19 Doo. Aint got to ride the Poo yet as no damn snow But good to hear the 18's are good!

I've got a good running 17 Axys 174 with a Bikeman pipe and an 18 850 175. Based on last year running the Axys against the 850's I expected the Axys 174 to perform pretty comparable to the 850 175. To my pleasant surprise, the 175 is definitely a step-up. I have re-clutched the 175 with ZRP Tailstander weights and added an HPS can and it will flat out runs away from the piped 174 either across the meadow or in a steep climb. Also, IMO the 850 takes less effort to ride which makes for even more fun.

My friend and I bought leftover 2017 165s this fall and had the free updates done to it before we picked them up. Maybe we've been lucky but both sleds our out of breakin mode now and belts/clutches look new still. All stock aside from panel vents and other things that dont matter.

So far I'm super happy with the sled. Definitively runs better than my 2016 cat did, and the chassis works well too. I rode a new Axys this weekend and almost wasn't sure if i was riding a 600 for a minute...no bottom end.

Does anybody know if having the gearing update/recall done would effect my speedometer reading? The max speed on mine reads 140KM/hr (87MPH) which seems WAY too fast. That wasnt even trying to wind it out. The odometer seems pretty accurate though :bolt:

293 miles and this is how my belt and clutches look.
Belt has the nice green and blue iridescent hue to it.
Other then a little over rev, seems to be working well.
My buddies 17 with updates and a Roosterbuilt clutch kit pulls a little harder on the top end and maintains 7900 to 8000 rpm on powder pulls.

This does not surprise me poo gears there 174 way to low, throw that bikeman pipe away as well slp way better at elevation.

Rode a few more times, both sleds, I think 130-ish on each, have yet to look at the belts. Last year, I had to adjust deflection to regain performance every 50 miles or so, until around 200 where the adjuster bottomed out. Then throw the belt away. Super happy with how things are going this year. My bud with the 16 piped/clutched Axys always give me crap. He beat me in a drag on the lake last year. He was behind me last weekend on a long pull, I could hear him behind me trying, but from the sound of it I was pulling away.

I was really scared about getting an 18' last year after seeing how many problems the 17' had. I pulled the trigger anyways and I am very, very happy. I picked up X 163"x3". I even rode an SLP piped 163"x2.6" Axys and where as it was a nice sled. I actually wanted to ride mine instead. On a really tracked up hill the two were really close. No new snow to speak of so that comparison will have to wait. A couple things to note, my dad has ran Polaris since 1986, Kawasaki before that, and after riding my 850, he went and bought one. The guy with the Axys and his wife rode my 850 and I think I have them ready to come over to the dark side too. I hope I never have a belt problem and so far I have 270 miles on my sled and I love it.

Another note on the Axys, it was the first time I have rode one and I owned an 11 and a 13 Pro, it is a better product. I do however believe the Ski-doo is easier to ride for 95% of the riding that REAL people do.

For me the 18 has been pretty decent and a fun sled once a few changes have been finalized

Had to suck limiter up 5 holes to get control of skis not pointing to sky every hill

Tmotion needed deleting, sled was very darty and hard to keep a line steep/ deep, almost scary to handle

Front stabilizer unhooked helped with control and sidehilling once t motion deleted

Needs stiffer fat boy springs to help out with rear sag, or better rear shock for my 220lbs ... some guys bumped up to free ride rear shock

P drive needed two grams added first ride per arm, to hold rpm down, still get 8300 rpm showing up on max rpm after reset, so more work needed, but on a pull it is glued on 8000

Oil consumption is 20-1 so A gallon will not make a two day weekend, black streaks in the white snow common, hopefully after BReakin this is changed or budds needed to drop consumption

Belts been lasting, but engine compartment pretty dusty, only lost one engine so far.. no reason

I owned both pipes last year. Ran the SLP first and got in dialed in, then tried the Bikeman. Bikeman pipe pulled 2 more grams weight and 1-2 MPH more track speed. SLP definitely not better at elevation, if it was I would still be running it.

I checked deflection on both sleds, they were both VERY loose, yet when riding I didn't notice it, where I did last year.
The chassis still lacks in my opinion. So flippity floppity and unpredictable. But I am kinda used to it. Need to delete T-motion and see if that helps.
As posted above, I tried sucking up the front limiter, it seemed to help a bit but it limited suspension travel so much that I about went over the bars bottoming out on the trail on the way out.
