So after roughly 45-50 miles my 2019 850 came out of break in mode. Skidoo must have shortened the time line for break in.

I had 70 ish percent left earlier today, then late afternoon stopped for a bit. Upon the restart the dash read nothing about % break in left.

This is after 2 rides.

Anyone else notice the shorter time?

That’s what the dash says.

I’m either done with break in or the ECM is messed up... either way interesting.

On start up now it only says good key, so...

All my past sleds I could get out of break in around 190-220 miles.

Dropped into the dealer, has them plug in and check things out, as well as to verify break in mode done. The dash read out is correct.

100% done with break in mode.

Verdict is a vastly shortened mode

They knew you could handle all the power right away so they set yours up like that...… But seriously it would be nice to hear if others are experiencing the same shortened break in. with some of the new coatings and technology that goes in these new motors, maybe its ok to rip on it sooner

On every Etec I have had since 2013 (15 I think) they have come off the clock at 200-300 miles, depending on the snow. At least on the gauge. I have never been able to tell a difference between on the clock of off, after the first 50 miles or so. I think that they have finally been honest about the actual miles until the clock expires, I would bet that all of my sleds have been out of breakin mode far far sooner than the dash has told me.

Went out for our maiden ride on 5 19 850's this last weekend. One black and four Red, the black one was out of breakin after about 50 miles, three red are still in breakin and one is broke.

went into limp mode after the first day. We had the dealer hook it up to buds and he said there were a couple codes, I looked the screen and it said something about the pto pickup coil open short.

That is not the exact error but what i can remember. It is now at our local dealing being looked at.

Well I’d seriously doubt the dealer computer and BUDS would be reading false information ....

I'm not saying yours is not out of break-in. Obviously it is but idk if I was ready to believe break-in mode was shortened or if yours was just quick for some reason. They should tell people this if this is the case.. the guys who really follow break-in procedures and are used to 200 or so miles of break-in might like this info to come from Ski-doo.

Here is another case to back up the OP. I always like to double check or triple check information. Starting to believe they did shorten it, now just wondering why? :clap2:

They may have shortened it, but the 850 in our group is an anomaly, It was broke in at less that 50 miles, I have well over that, I am not positive because I have not looked but I have to say at least 3 times that and am still at 21 percent left.

If they shortened it I would have expected all of them to breakin roughly at the same rate.

The others are a little higher than mine but it is an amount that is relative to the percentage of mine.

Even on the old method folks came out of break in all over the mileage range, from 180-400 miles. As it was pretty much based solely on fuel usage, around 28-30 gallons if I remember right.

So it would stand to reason the new shorter method would still be based on the same principle just less fuel. Hence the variance.

Ride easy= better fuel mileage = longer time frame/more miles.

Ride more aggressive = more fuel used= shorter time frame/less miles.

I have always been pretty easy on my sleds during breakin, most were 280-300 miles. One deep year my 175 was off at just over 200. Two years ago my 154 Freeride was 300 or so, but it went on 2 fun runs with a kid in front of me.

I PDI-d mine today, will take it out tomorrow. I will keep an eye on the clock and see if it goes down like I am used to.
