this is gonna be an expensive one

Am I seeing things or is the piston ring retainer right there to the right of the carnage? All my previous engines have had the ring gaps on the intake side where they are protected from being eaten (smaller ports on the intake side). Any chance whoever assembled the engine put the piston in 180 degrees out? Just my thought. Sorry for your loss.

IMO this looks to me like a "**** happens" deal... I'd say the fix kit spicificly had little to do with it... looks like it it ate a ring on the ex valve.

Both pistons were in the correct way. I know in one way or another the ring failed. thinking maybe it had something to do with the locating pin

-McFarckle, please contact us about this failure. I don't think that the fix kit had anything related directly to the failure but the ring definately failed. Was it installed into a used cylinder? Was the ring end gap checked upon install? Please call us and I will work with you on this for the replacement parts, I don't warranty work performed by other shops, but I will help you out with getting some replacement parts- call me directly - shawn davenport - mountain tek performance - 208-709-0323 - my direct line - thanks!
