The clutching "seems wrong" isn't much info. Are you sure it's not the gearing? What color spring does your primary have? What is you engagement RPM? Is it shifting out too much/too soon, or not enough? You can draw some lines on your primary sheaves with wax pencil to see where your belt is running.

The clutch set up and gearing that will work best for you depend on what type of riding you do. Optimum gearing/clutching for riding groomed trails would be different than for deep snow and/or climbing hills.

Well here is the clutch set up for a 1996 500 efi SKS sled from my old service manual. I realize it is not for a 92 model, but the motor and drive system is similar and it will be a good place to start: Engagement: 4000rpm; Drive spring: Gold, .207; Weights: 10M Bushed; Driven spring: Red; Helix: 36-degree, hole #2; gearing 20/39; Operating rpm: 8000rpm.

You will want to take everything apart and clean it all up. A clutch rebuild kit may also be in order. Study up on all there is, the 500 fuelie was a good sled with exceptional fuel mileage. Good luck.

that's a good set up save for the spring the gold sucks, use the 7041080 blue spring and check around at that time Hot Seat made a fabulous kit that was unbeatable in crosscountry and ISOC lake racing

Thanks 550iq. That is what is was looking for. It has something way different that that. Wouldnt turn over 6800 and would only go 55 mph and had no get up and go was just slow and crappy running, but the motor ran smooth as could be.
