You suppose to gain much hp with Indy Dan's motor, or just reliability? Does he make a turbo specific head?

Dan is pretty humble about his motor, the torque master engine alone you will run 2grams more weight. He also says you can run 1lb-1.5lbs less boost and make the same power...so 8lbs should feel more like 9lbs.

He sets up his turbo engines a little different, pistons and head is different and will change port timing.

All made to run on 89 octane.

Should be a lot more reliable over the next couple seasons.

9 LBS boost and 89 octane fuel. Are you running the BD timing key?

I said "feels like 9lbs of boost"...will be tuned for 8lbs...and its the way Dan sets up all his engines to run on low octane to prevent DET...that's not saying the sled will be setup to run on 89octane...it will be 50/50 mix of 100ll and 91...not all 91 is equal

I don't know if Erik will be running running the timing key or not. I assume so though

2 years ago, my riding buddy and I snow checked with VOHK and had him do the install. My sled is a 2011 m8 running 7.5-8 psi at about 9000 feet. My riding partners is a 2012 pro running very close to those numbers as well.

I must say that the reliability from BD/VOHK install and tune has been PHENOMINAL! Not a hiccup or anything. It has been pull and go day in and day out. The reliability is amazing.

We are running 91 octane with 10% toluene.
The sleds flat out rip. The pro has better throttle response but the m8 makes a lot of power on long pulls, IMO.

This is my first turbo'd sled and def won't be my last. They are addicting!!

No question in my mind, I will turn to BD/VOHK again in the future!!!!

Gtx has a billet wheel. From what I read in the car world a gtx 2863 will have the bottom end of a 2860 and almost as much in top as a 2871. Far as I know BD only has the 2863 available in a gtx varient.

Gerrett doesn't make a regular GT2863, it's either GT2860 or GT2871... The GTX's come in 2860, 2863, 2867.

A little update on my build. I decided to build what I think it the ultimate back country sled.

2013 Assault 155 (for chain case reasons)
Indy Dan Long Rod Motor
Boondocker Turbo Tial 2860 GTX Non-Intercooled by Vohk
WRP Low Seat
Burandts new Signature Series front and rear shocks
C&A BX Skis
To Cool venting
Zbros 39" A-Arms
Dan Adams Wrap and Paint for some flash
Fly Handle Bars

Might do a 3" 156 track

Winter cant come fast enough:face-icon-small-coo

Last season I ran a BD 2863 Tial, with intercooler. Ran about 11-12lbs on 50/50, set-up by Carl's Cycle. Turbo and sled worked flawlessly!! On the same sled this season; only thing I am changing is the new muffler and air intake. Can't wait to get back on her!!

Have you talked to Erik about the 3" yet, he's building a 14 for a friend of mine and convinced him that it's not the ideal setup, I believe due to gear ratios but not 100% sure. I'd ask him about it though..

He told me the same exact thing... Don't know why he's the only person I've heard say it doesn't work well with 7 Thoth drivers and stock gearing according to everyone else I've talked to it works Great. Who am I to question him though so I'll go with whatever he says.

Shouldn't matter for Edavis though since he's got a chain case and can change gearing

Erik sent me a quote for new gearing to be installed also...I may do the Indy Dan drivers he has coming out if I don't do the 3"
