Sks 2.4 or 2.6

Hi,

Asking for a friend. He’s switching to a SKS 850 155 and wonders about the 2 following questions;

1- is there a huge difference in deep snow between the 2.4 and the 2.6?

2- is the 2.4 more durable than the 2.6?

Basically, some days he rides trails whereas the next day he’ll ride deep snow?

What do you guys think is best?

In deep snow the 2.6 is twice the track the 2.4 is. As far as durability goes the 2.4 will outlast the 2.6 by far. If hes going to run trails hes going to shred a 2.6.

I had the 2.4 and in anything but powder I hated that track. On the hardback it would just fold over and was dangerous. The 2.6 is a much better track.

I have not run a 2.6 but lots of miles on 2.4 track and a 3.0. Imo the 2.4 is a great all purpose track it really shines in new snow conditions. Lots of info on 2.6 blowing apart more so than even the 3.0. I would go 2.4 between the 2.

i had a '17 sks with about 1000 miles. about 600 of that was bombing trails to get to the good stuff and riding around the midwest.

i fully clipped the 2.6 and it held up great. 150 of those miles were in absolute chit conditions.

get the 2.6 and fully clip it! it's much better in the deep stuff.

I have a '17 SKS and got the 2.6. It was wearing on the non-clipped windows, then it tore at the base of a lug nearly through the outer belt. Polaris denied warranty. I replaced it with a fully clipped CE 2.5

My buddy fully clipped his 2.6 and just the other day shredded it. :face-icon-small-dis

Rumor has it that Polaris has moved the clips to the lugged windows, have no seen anything that confirms this though. I have a '17&'18 SKS with the 2.4" they have 3600&1800 miles and look like day one, zero wear

Theres another thread on here about this with pics from a sled on a dealer floor. I hope this will take care of the issue.

Trying to decide this issue as well. My dealer told me that the 2.6 will "thow paddles" if you ride it as hard on trail as you can with the 2.4. But as others have said, it appears the 2.6 is roughly "twice" the track as the 2.4 in powder, so I guess you pays yer money and you takes yer chances... In any case, Hopefully Poo is fully clipping all tracks for 2019 as a result of the negative issues arising.
