Well, this was an interesting find !
Pretty sure I missed installing the top rubber grommet from the stock muffler onto the GGB can when I installed it from day 1. (bottom one was installed) As it looks like it allowed the exhaust pipe support to pull back into the cross member and chewed through the aluminum.

My silber with the old (not sure how old) and the new style loud exhaust allows the pipe to rub on that crossmember slightly. It was worse with the old style though. They said stock sleds do it too. I'll be keeping an eye on mine for sure.

This is with their old style exhaust.

Mine with can started it also. . I'm going to weld a Lil plate on those 2 sharp edges of the pipe support and put rubber on it. . That way there's a flat rubber surface on the cross member not those 2 sharp edges.

Noticed mine is also rubbing with a bmp pipe, can and y pipe. Think I'll just wrap the aluminum section that it's rubbing on with an old piece of radiator hose and some adhesive to keep it in place.

I just cut a couple little chunks out of an old belt and slide them in between with the pipe bracket in the grooves of the belt. Works great.

I was having this issue and even cutting through thick rubber I had on the cross member. Now I Welded a thin plate between the 2 sharp edges on the pipe support. . . Then wrapped cross member in a thick rubber tape and covered the plate with half inch thick foam. . Should be mint. . Just need to touch Er up with some paint.

Mine was wearing badly through the crossmember as well. I filled the hole with Jbb weld then used a 1/2 piece of 1” steel electrical conduit as a buffer and secured it with glue and heat tape. Works great, very low impact, and clean

Run SLP products...no trouble...made to fit!!

Interesting since folks have had issues with all aftermarket products as well as stock. I am beyond impressed with my choice of pipe can combo and if 15 minutes is required to prevent damage to a soft aluminum cross member so be it. I feel all stock and modified sleds require diligence to maintain and do our best to prevent issues on the mountain. I enjoy getting to know my machine and “tweaking” it to make it better.

Last weekend was out on sled & heard a strange metal on metal rattle. I remember browsing this thread & sure enough my pipe support was just touching the crossmember. I pushed the pipe forward & was good for rest of weekend. Will be tackling this concern this week along with replacing my blown W.E shocks :face-icon-small-fro

I notice mine to, but during the install....Got out the grinder and trimmed a half moon into the pipe support... No need to install this, that or the other....

Some (luckily) have enough clearance- the 2 in my shop, have good spacing.
( Both with Silber turbos one with quiet can-other with not so quiet)
900 miles with boost each, but still going to apply some cushin' in there becasue it's to close for comfort- but zero signs of contact.

Good post !!

Just checking

Is filling the grooves in the cross member with jb weld the way to go? Or should I take it somewhere and have a metal tube welded over the wear spots?
What have you guys done?
I don't know jack about metal and want to make sure I stay structurally sound.
Thanks!
I will also notch the pipe support
