Long time congressman widely thought to be a successor of Nancy Pelosi for speaker of the house dethroned in Democratic Congressional primary race in New York City. Elected is a 28 year old female newcomer to politics who ran on free college and free healthcare and anti-gun legislation with many other liberal/socialist and communist positions as the foundation of her platform.

Midterms should be interesting.

Not the most shocking. Im betting we see a major swing back to the farther left then ever before. The political pendulum swings back and forth until it is knocked from its perch. The next wave of democrats to take office will be farther left then ever before. Follwed by a swing in the next 4-8 years of a new batch of repubs with farther right views.

This is her platform, and she won.
Let that sink in.
This is the direction many on the left want to take this country.

Been following this and I have to admit I have overestimated the intelligence and integrity of the next generation.
It seems that this socialism movement has more traction than I ever imagined.
The obvious question....
How can this even be a thing?

This is the same generation that has made "Trump Derangement Syndrome" a real illness, so asked and answered I guess.
We live in a time that anything and everything is at our fingertips. The fact that some people fixate on hypotheticals to the point they work themselves into a frenzy shows up all over the place. Folks (especially the rising generation) are so stuck in screens, they don't know what's going on outside their window (I say as I look at a screen). My wife & I enforced no screen time for July for our kids. The initial resistance was exactly what you'd expect. I told them there is no reason that in the most beautiful month in the year you shouldn't be outside.

This 28 yo in NY is at least participating. Her platform may be delusional, but she got off the couch & off her phone long enough to campaign in person a little. And it being NY, she probably will win.

From her website:

A Federal Jobs Guarantee

Alexandria endorses a Federal Jobs Guarantee, because anyone who is willing and able to work shouldn’t struggle to find employment.

A Federal Jobs Guarantee would create a baseline standard for employment that includes a $15 minimum wage (pegged to inflation), full healthcare, and child and sick leave for all. This proposal would dramatically upgrade the quality of employment in the United States, by providing training and experience to workers while bringing much-needed public services to our communities in areas such as parks service, childcare and environmental conservation.

Furthermore, a federal jobs guarantee program would establish a floor for wages and benefits for the nation’s workforce. This program would provide a baseline minimum wage of $15 an hour and guarantee for public workers a basic benefits package, including healthcare and childcare. By investing in our own workforce, we can lift thousands of American families out of poverty.

---

With $15 per hour guaranteed jobs from the government, all mom & pop shops (and all fast food chains) will collapse. BUT DON'T FEAR THAT! Then the friendly government will step in and take over every business that isn't making it. Then everyone will be equal!!!

Recent gallop poll shows 47% of democrats view capitalism positively
While 57% of democrats view socialism positively.
Th brainwashing appears to be working.

Benjamin Franklin said that once the people realize that they can vote themselves money it will all be over. We're getting close if we don't do something.

I'm honestly surprised the Capitalism # is that high & the Socialism number is that low. Whoever was conducting the poll must have been looking for some fairly conservative democrats. In the very least, I think it shows 43% of Democrats have been completely hoodwinked & don't know what they're voting democrat actually supports.
