Default Mpi2 buds help

I have a mpi2 adapter and buds megatech but cant get i working , it does Only connect to display cluster. My thought , Is the power connector a must? Ive just plugged 12v in thru the cables , maybe the ecu isnt waking up? See picture on the power conntector
