Default Chain Case

Get one from a Pro-X and upgrade your disc brake. The later models and RMK's came with it. I changed out all of my Edge to is with no issues.

The 02 RMK has the dipstick and oil filler hole in the chain case cover, right next to the hot silencer. The 04 RMK chain case cover has no hole to fill with oil. The 04 dipstick and oil filler hole is located in the rear housing. Even if the Polaris 04 cover fit exactly on the 02, which is unlikely, you would have no easy way to fill the chain case with oil, unless you found something in the after market.

So if for some reason you were still driven to install a magnesium chain case cover, and could not afford and after market one, you would likely have to buy and install the entire chain case, with bearings.

If you were looking to just save weight instead of having a backup magnesium fire starter, start by removing the front suspension cross bar and tighten up the springs, replace with a lightweight silencer, drill a half dozen 1" diameter holes in the track to kick out snow, and spray a deicer in the inside of the tunnel. You could lose 40 lbs by doing all of that.
