Default What is this?

I found this floating in oil tank of 600 etec. We have been riding sled and everything seems to work. So what is it, do i need it and how hard is it to fix?
The item I am talking about is in the picture in a Ziploc bag.

Any idea if it is a simple fix? Probably would be just fine without it, but if its simple I would sure put it back together.

I would assume if it is the low level sensor just remove tank. Pull discharge fitting out of the bottom of the tank and repair or replace it.
