What are you being quoted for a new 850?

The number one driver for the sled industry contracting since 1997 is - the rising price of sleds. Combine that with the unpredictable snowfall in the non-mountain states, and sales volume declines. Production down, margins down or prices up. It's called a death spiral. Be careful what you wish for. Reduced production can help dealers get some altitude for a year, and has been used before after back to back low snow years. I've seen the OEM research data behind the curtain. A good snow year outside the mountain states resets the baseline and rewards the dealer, in an average to good economy. Nothing else turns the ship.

I was told Polaris can only build so many 850 in time for Snowcheck and that is what those numbers are based on.

There is no limit on the non 850 sleds.
polaris can only afford to replace so many 850's..:face-icon-small-hap...if past new engines are any indication..:face-icon-small-dis

For those of you getting over $1000 off msrp, is the dealer charging you for freight and pdi as well? Got a quote from my local dealer here and Im not impressed at all. Charged me full price with freight and pdi when last year I bought a switchback assault from him and he gave me nearly $800 off of msrp and no freight or pdi. Im a little pissed so far.

I was told there will be no mid season 850s, its snowcheck or nothing if you want one for next season... Also dealers now get fined $3500 if they order extra SC sleds to sell on the showroom floor like they have done in the past. This is Polaris's way of making Snowcheck special to its buyers again, it will help these sleds hold their value as well which is nice.
lol no sled holds its value. You will lose $3000 the minute you pick that sled up from the dealer. when the 2020 850s are reviled you will have to sale yours for a discounted price to get anyone to buy it. Im going to go ahead and bet there will be a few 850s at dealers to buy next fall. There is no way for Polaris to know if dealers are faking their snowcheck orders its to easy for them to have people snowcheck them for them and then the buyer backs out in the fall. Its all a good sales pitch to get people to panic and snowcheck.

Drives the price of new sleds up while most are complaining about what a new one costs these days. Great plan, a bit elitist, but great nonetheless.

Mostly it will cause a drop in sales when there are no special models for sale on the floor. I also LIKE the rebates that make the sleds more affordable, I suspect most people do. OBVIOUSLY the manufacturer has room in the machines since it is commonplace season after season.

I think they should encourage dealers to order a few specials. They are MUCH more likely to attract buyers on a sales floor than in your garage, not for sale...

Snowcheck should just go away and let dealers order the colors/configurations that sell for them.

If there were no snowchecks then you would be riding a black sled as that would be all the dealers would order. Just like the car dealers who only stock silver, white or various shades of black cars. :face-icon-small-hap

850, 2.6, 155, mono tube, painted rails and tunnel, standard gauge.

13,999 msrp

12,600 before tax

13,331 out the door

This dealer is pretty busy in the Midwest. They have already oversold their allotment of 850s. They said the orders go through and are accepted by Polaris so they’ll keep ordering. I hope these snowchecks aren’t showing up in January/February.

crazy, dealer called me yesterday and told me to snowcheck one even if I didn't want one. he said they would refund my $500 back to me. I think your dealer is giving you a sales pitch to get top dollar. But who knows.
