Just was trying to figure out what to put over the plywood for protection & was wondering if anybody has ever tried putting down the 12" x 12" non-slip linolium (sp?) pieces that have the glue on the backside? Basically it is the home flooring stuff? Any experience/ideas?

Don't waste your time (or $$$) with the cheapo glue down squares. First time you run your sled in they will look like crap, and do nothing to protect your floor. Rino coat it.
