Going Saturday. By then might not be as much powder but do you think it will be set up more like a base by then?

By looking at the snotel data yesterday, the depth wasnt changing much but the water content was increasing.... Which should mean it was still snowing but also settling. More snow coming thursday so that will help too.

Dont think there will be much of a base yet. Have fun.... and watch out for rocks :) Eric

11/30/16. Super deep in spots, super thin in most areas. Wind driven everywhere. Rocks everywhere, even in areas that look money. Tip toe around, or get destroyed. We were very lucky not to break anything yesterday. No base obviously. HWY 130 was bare since they plowed it. It was a super tough ride. Every snow condition out there.

Still need to tip toe around. Really just need to have a good eye for the deep snow areas. Even then, there were still fallen trees and such we were tapping with our tracks and skis. I wouldn't be making ANY down hill pow turns yet.

Well thanks for the report and the reply man. Might just go out there and be super cautious and just try and learn some new areas to ride.

Went with my group today rode the west side. Good snow in spots. Step off ur sled and sink in over your waist. Just when you start to build some confidence that you can go a little faster and do
Some pow turns you bump a rock or a stump under their surface and quickly reminds you that you need to take it easy.parked at green rock. Had an almost brand new set of ice storm scratchers and had them down between green rock and lake Marie both ways almost half of the tip was ground off tonight cause of bare highway. If you are a patient person and can control yourself you can go pick around and find some stuff to ride in but if you can't control your throttle when in the pow stay home and save yourself the money cause you will break things. Average speed today was around 8-10 mph after we headed north from the highway towards the warming hut

The above report was my experience. Should of waited. Found some good pow and got confident. Skipped about 100 rocks/stumps. Was relieved to get the sled back in one piece, minus backing up and wrecking an ice scratcher. Hopped on the snowbike and ended up tearing the window on the edge of the track and damaging either the ski or spindle. Haven't looked yet. All in all was not worth it at all. Lesson learned.

I thought the Ryan Park side was good. i know better than to expect to go and just bomb all the meadows or climb or whatever. I was happy to be riding. I passed your group on Saturday afternoon I think, it was snowing pretty hard at that time. We had fun also.

I rode yesterday and some friends rode today. Not really and new snow in that last 4-5 days. The big storm is supposed to hit tonight.

We rode again today. A few more inches fell last night so it was ok. Still have to watch for the occasional stump or rock but it's getting close.

Any updates, was planning on heading there this weekend.

Calling for off and on snow all week. Looks like a good shot on wed and then another on friday. weekend looks COLD.

We rode sat/sun, found good snow both days and also found crap. The south and east side are thin, 130 is bare on the east side in spots. The usual good spots were good and had 4 to maybe 5 ft at the most. Tree riding was good, the base is setting up, you could ride up and over trees and logs and not just bash into them. Its still early season riding but if they get a couple feet by the weekend it would be worth going. Eric

Cool, appreciate your updates! Cooke is looking like more Avalanche danger than its worth and now it is between the snowies and Togwotee, never been to Tog so with the cold weather I almost feel more comfortable in areas I am familiar in case of a problem. I didn't listen to you last time and went 2 weeks ago, bent my timbersled ski a lot and ripped up the window on my track. I was happy I got my sled back without damage as I felt my track or skid plate hit about 100 rocks.

Does anyone know if there is a place to buy race gas around the snowies? We're staying at aspen creek cabins 1/21-1/27. Thanks for any info
