What he means by this is from the parking lot to the burial site. Hitch and a cargo sleds are needed to get non-motorized rescuers and gear to the site. Carpooling is also very important as the parking lots will be crowded...

I'm in. Have heard 1 too many stories where a few more experienced riders on the scene would have helped in finding someone. Live in Anchorage, spend most weekends in or North of the Valley. Put me down for A-town and the Valley if that works.

Hey Robert, put beacon, probe and shovel next to my name. I bit the bullet and just ordered a new beacon.

Awesome! I will update you and a couple others. I have been getting some PM's from lots of people looking at this site and realizing they need to have the basic equipment and the knowledge to use them. Sounds like more people want to sign up for some classes.
Dash, any info on upcoming classes??

Latest e-mail from the Chairman of Alaska Mountain Rescue Group (AMRG).

Prayn4snow:
Thank you for contacting AMRG and for providing this list of snowmachine
resources for different parts of the Alaska. The search and rescue
community always needs more volunteers and I appreciate you contacting me
with the names of folks willing to assist. We are revising our list of
Resources to be also based by region/community, so this will work into that
process.

We can also work more folks into our annual SAR avalanche training (which we
held in TPass this past December & included some on your list below).

I would like to contact you by phone to follow-up and see if there are folks
in the Anchorage/Eagle R./Girdwood area who might be interested in joining
AMRG--we are looking to expand our roster of folks who have snowmachines and
ATV's and are willing to assist. I'll be tied up the next couple of days
working with the Troopers on coordinating the recovery of the avalanche
victim in Center Creek, but will be in touch after that.

FYI....we are working with Sgt. Barlow and Trooper Peterson to contact Snow
Safaris and experienced riders to line up folks to assist with that effort
which will likely occur on Thursday. We first have to make sure we can make
that scene safe to put lots of other people in the area for searching...

Sincerely,

( I removed his name and phone number)
