That guy will be faster at 60 years old than most of us ever were. Yep, two strokes are defnitely fun...especially a 125. But starting against 450s SUCKS!! If it weren't for the starts, I'd most likely be on a 250 two stroke.

It will be interesting now that the AMA wants to run the 250 2 strokes in the MX lites class.

I got good starts on my 250 last year, even a holeshot. That was in the Beginner class though.

Didn't know that. Nice work on the racing holeshot...how long have you been racing?

I raced quads in the Pro class back in the early 90's for a few years. I got my boy into racing bikes 4 years ago when he was 5. It became an addiction for him and by age 7 we were chasing points and hitting all the races. I found that when I would give advice he would say "you don't even race dad" then it was on for me! We joined the local MX club and started practicing 3 days a week. I needed it since I was never on a bike much. I started racing bikes this year in the open B class. Kinda funny I was ridding a 1989 YZ 250 and not in the vintage class LOL. That is the bike that I got my holeshot on, I think there were 7 450's in there and a mixed bag of other bikes. I always got good starts on the quads and I think I just picked it up on the bikes also. It was going good (3rd place in the points for state at mid season) until it got hit in the air by a 16 year old in practice on raceday on my hometown track. I had 4 broken ribs, a collapsed lung and three brain bleeds. Just got released by my Nuero doc to ride again two weeks ago and have now have a much newer bike so I am PUMPED!! I am gonna race the Vet's from now on LOL. Sorry for the book.

Big AMA Rule Change: 250 Four-Strokes and 250 Two-Stroke to be combined

According to MX Sports these are the Loretta Lynn rule changes:

The AMA Congress has eliminated handicapping for the previous 125cc/250F (Lites) classes. For 2008, all Lites machines will have a 250cc and under displacement--regardless of engine type (two-stroke or four-stroke). In addition, the previous 250 two-stroke/450 four-stroke class is now open to four-stroke and two-stroke engines from 122cc-Open cc. At the moment these rules apply to Amateur racing, not pro racing. These rules will be in effect at the 2008 Loretta Lynn race.
These rule changes might kill the 125 two-stroke at Loretta Lynn (although opening the door for big-bore 125s in the Modified clases), but it could save the 250cc two-stroke from extinction. The rule changes are design to lower the cost of racing, equalize the classes and keep the two-stroke viable as a start-up machine. All good causes.

OTHER NOTABLE FACTS
* The Honda CRF150 is only eligible in SuperMini and Schoolboy classes.
* There will be an 85cc class for nine year olds: Class 24 85cc (9-11) stock and Class 25 85cc (9-11) modified.
* The 14-15 85cc classes have been formulated into two Supermini classes to better suit the older, larger mini cycle riders and to provide a better stepping stone into the larger sized machines: Class 28 “Supermini 1” (12-15) and Class 29 “Supermini 2” (14-16)
* A and A/Pro Sport riders are no longer permitted to participate in the Schoolboy classes: Class 30 “Schoolboy 1” (12-16) B/C: 86-125cc 2-stroke/75-150cc 4-stroke and Class 31 “Schoolboy 2” (14-16) B/C: 100-144cc 2-stroke/126-250cc 4-stroke
