AER 48 for snowbike?

I have a new, left over 17. Are the seals interchangeable with the 18's? I have a Trio as well. I was planning on taking the 4CS off my 16' 450 and swapping around with the AER to the 17'. Little longer but that is no big deal to figure out. The 4CS is modified and valved up to my specs, so I hate to use it on a snowbike where that does not matter.

Do the seals fail because the pressure is pumped way up on the 17' AER for snowbike duty?

Seals fail due to the cold. (They roll up)

Use the 4cs and trio.

Aer work really well on dirt.

I just bought a 2018 KTM 450 and the dealer that I bought my Timbersled from said that I will need the Trio shock due to all the failures. I am not questioning your statement, just want to make sure I don’t need a $900 shock.
I build snow bikes , Not one failure on the 18,s, All the 17,s failed, I run 200psi

As said - we had issues with the 2017 AER, nothing on 2018 so far.

**That said if you have a bike with AER forks and don't want them for winter use, I'm SURE you can find someone with a 4CS or Xplor who would swap you no problem. The AER is awesome for summer use.

If your '16 4CS is setup for dirt I wouldn't bother swapping it as the snowbike setups are much firmer. I'd run the AER with upgraded seals and you can at least bump up the air pressure. '18 seals fit the '17 forks. I do like my AER on dirt too.

yes Spring forks add noticeable front end weight on a snow bike. The AER really work, just assure 18 seals.

Send then to Brockstar.. he has a fix for them.. they work awesome! My cousin rode hard last winter with no issues and Brock has done lots of testing to get them dialed in!!

16.5 AER Kreft - no fail

down to 0 degrees on a Kreft modified AER48 on my 16 factory edition was bullet proof all season last year with some big hits included in the punishment. Further more the revalve control let's me crank the damping down to be good for snowbiking and then turn it back to woods soft with a 12mm wrench. Amazing system, worth every penny.

Another vote for Brockstar. My 2017 AER seals failed on the first ride. Sent them to Brock and they never did it again. He also installs a valve on the bottom so if the seals freeze and roll up, and air ever escapes past the seals, you just let out the air, and pump it back up. If you have a 2017, this is a must do. I have a 2018 this year and I am planning on running 200 pounds, and hope I don't have any trouble, Headed for revy in two weeks!

Has anyone had any 2018 aer seal failures? I spoke to Slavens about it and was told they still have 2018 seal failures and the fix is skf seal kit pn 115-4126 and it’s $180usd. That’s steep for seals. I was just replacing mine today with what the dealer told me was the 2018 seal kit pn r14060. It comes with everything u don’t need and not the quad seals that fail.

I have a 17FX450 and ran it all last season on the stock seals (80 hours) updated to the 18 parts in the summer, but am running a trio now too.

That being said, I’m pretty sure I’m the exception with the 2017 seals, most of them failed.
