Tracking riding buddies

Group ride functionality already exists on the Polaris RZRs, so it will probably come to sleds soon. You can buy the vehicle to vehicle antenna kit so it’ll work without cell service, but you can’t use it unless you have the ride command gauge.

Any electronics gurus on here that could figure out how to add group ride functionality on the PIDD gauge?

Our group is using the Voyager Pro. Yes they only work with other Voyager Pros because the work thru radio signals, each VP has a small antenna that is mounted on your machine for buddy tracking. They work fantastic and are the best tool we found so far to keep track of everyone. It keeps everyone in your group on the screen and will pan in or out as needed to do so. Each rider can activate an emergency beacon if they get in trouble so their little icon goes red so everyone knows they have a problem. This Voyager Pro along with radios is the answer in my opinion. It also has a great GPS in it as well as full telemetry on your sled/bike to monitor temps, RPM, speed, etc.
We have been totally happy with this setup. This little video is a good review.

Overview & Specs

• Trail Tech Voyager Pro, the Connected Rider’s GPS. A premium off-road GPS with 4 inch color touchscreen anti-glare display, sealed and rated IP67 for anti dust/water intrusion
• The map screen is enabled with base maps, topography lines, hill shading, and some trails. Record or load GPX trails and riding areas, and transfer to a PC using the MicroSD card. Voyager Pro comes loaded with North American maps, but other map regions can be downloaded for free.
• Amongst the major features is Buddy Tracking. Buddy Tracking uses localized radio signals and can support up to 20 riders in a single group. Since the advent of the shoulder clipped microphone radios we aren't getting much quality riding in. Everyone seems to think they can now go Rogue and disappear at will. Most the day is spent looking for the knothead who is stuck or crashed or upside down. Looking out for oneself seems to have gone by the wayside. I guess the best way to deal with the Rogue riders is to put them on ignore, hope their not dead or dying, then gathering them up at the end of the day on the way back to the truck like the good old days. Technology may make life a little more safe, but on the flipside we used to get a lot more quality riding in when the group made it a point to keep everyone in site.

Quit inviting the knot heads... we pair up and try to keep the group smaller no more than 6. If bigger than that break it into two or more sub groups based on riding style/ability. We use the Baeofungs with shoulder mics and also Garmin 650's.
