Another ‘19 850 Heads up

@TRS can you add tension to the terminals and then needle silicone around the terminals. Kinda hate to put silicone in a connector, but it would actually hold the pins in place where dielectric grease will probably move out as it vibrates. If you had too much silicone and the connector won't come apart in the future you can disconnect back at the main harness to unscrew the sensor with it connected.

You may be better off to solder them as Murph did.
I removed the stub harness, removed the female ends from the connector, and added tension. So far so good. Going back out for a test ride.

have had similar issues lately too. actually more like the last 5 or so rides.... temps stays where it needs to be all day, then it seems like every day on the trail ride back to the pickup or town, whenever i get on it and give it a quick snap on the throttle, temp drops 20-30 degrees instantly with a engine cold banner, then right back up to previous running temp, my last ride it did while i was riding and it stumbled a couple times while tree riding and then didnt bother again for the rest of the day till the trail ride back... thoughts?

I’m doing the solder to fix route for now. I don’t see how these cheap connectors could possibly last in the vibration environment.

Man I love the new technology but damn the bad quality! Small details that ruin a weekend ride are extremely annoying.

Doo connectors are better hands down.

Just replaced the entire engine harness in my son-in-laws ‘17 850 Summit as part of an update because the PTO side injector plug kept breaking. Caused us to cut our Togwotee trip short.

Dang sorry to hear that. Man what is happening to quality? This is minor and basic stuff causing significant problems. These sleds are now North of $15k, so this junk is not acceptable.

Also what is trick to remove female pins?

The new Rev 4 jumper harness is PN 2415756. Of course its on back order until 3/7.

My dealer wanted a service work order to warranty the part. Bring sled in etc etc.

You need to remove the pin sockets from the connector. I have a tool for it. I believe you could use a hair pin, you need to push it in the slot above and below the center socket(black end). It will release the pin socket. Be patient.
There is a small opening on both sides of the socket where you can add tension.
Do one at a time.

Soldered the contacts directly to Coolant temp sensor and then 5 minute epoxy to backfill the plastic plug. (Couldn’t find any non-corrosive silicone in McCall). More testing tomorrow. ??

This solution now has 600+ miles on it.

Yeah thanks, I am leaning towards soldering. Then I figured shoot if I do that why not just buy the old style sensor that had no connector and straight wires. However dealer didn’t have that one either.

I stopped by napa and bought a pig tail as an option. Also the tool is shown to release the female connectors which works great.

Interesting that the Polars Chinese connectors don’t look terrible and they feel reasonably snug when mounted on male pins in sensor. However when fully assembled this connection fails intermittently on ohm meter. Definitely the problem.

The Napa Taiwan connector is a bit expensive and has much better spring loaded female contacts. Also 14ga wire vs 16ga. So I might splice this in instead of cutting the sensor to solder.

The Bosch sensor is a nice quality sensor. The fail is the cheap Chinese knock off wire connector. No way its a Bosch!

I did the same thing! Bought the Napa harness and then purchased the connector to mate with the sled harness. Works great no issues!
