LOL...the 21/43 was retarded unless ya rode the HM 151 700 in MN. I cut the head (before I met this Kelsey guy), 20 top gear, heavy rear springs, 100 lb center shock spring, tossed the 293X ramps in the garbage put in 287 or 299 or 300's all worked alot better than stock...and that 2000 700 was a runner...I did 156 and 159 tracks in those sleds...19/43 was good...remember these were only 15" wide 2" tracks...BJ

Yup, we gained 5 sled lengths and big MPH droppin from the 21 to a 20.. Then in 01 they came out from the factory with the 19... :D

I have to disagree on the 293X ramp.. I tried almost every ramp and really liked the 293X for powder pulling.. when the 301 came out in 02.. That ramp was excellent as well.. but I kept the 293X's

The stock 2000 secondary, IMO, was a huge problem.. it had ZERO backshift.. those rides down the hill (in the flatlands of Idaho and UT) were very swift LOL:eek::eek:

The upshift was not so bad, but the pucker factor was at a max on the return...

The 293X had its place.....what I didnt like for mountain riding (IMHO) was the engagement notch...the belt would get very hot at low speeds and the rpm was very eratic...point it uphill and hit it was fine...so for us flatlanderslowpokegetnstukalots it was hard on belts is all...LOL-BJ

The tunnel design of the 2001 and 2000 ZX sleds HATES smaller drivers. So, if you do not have a drop and roll installed--> DO NOT go smaller than the stock 9T 2.52 drivers or you will be very disappointed. VERY!! If it is dropped and rolled... then you can go smaller if you need to.

Kelsey, can you explain this a little more why this tunnel hates smaller drivers. thanks

I am not 100% as to the "WHY" just 100% sure as to the "HATES" part..

The 02 had a slight drop and roll in so that certainly helps.. But I suspect it is all related to the tighter bend radius and the resistence in the tunnel being amplified due to the taller track.. Again.. not real sure.. Just know what happened when we did it and I always prefer real-world results vs. theory and the real world results spoke for themselves

OR it could just be the gearing??;)

My buddy and I ran the zx700 himarks and he did the mods and I stayed closer to stock. He tried the jaws twins and head at 3000-6000 ft and it definately worked better more speed than mine and both were geared 19/43. His ring were flaking and mine did not. He rolled his chain case and I could not see any gain. He then put 670 pistons in and cut his head put the stock pipe on with Turbo All's THE THING and that was a big difference. Now compareable with twin piped 800's so on went a 30hp shot of Boondocker NOS and twin piped 900 Cats were choking on hairballs. This sled still rocks the unsuspecting .
