Deschutes and Ochoco National Forest Environmental Impact Statement Intent

T
SAWS Members,

It has been going on in every state on our borders and now it is time for it to hit Oregon. We have been dodging the bullet for years and it has come time for us to defend our right to ride once again.

It was announced on May 19th that the Deschutes and Ochoco National Forests as well as the Crooked River National Grasslands an intent to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to serve as the Travel Management Plan (TMP) for the Forests.

A copy of that notice can be found here: http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/centraloregon/travel-mgmt/eis/20080509_tm_noi1.pdf

A copy of the scoping letter can be found here: http://www.fs.fed.us/r6/centraloregon/travel-mgmt/eis/20080508_tmscoping.pdf

The comment period for this EIS is scheduled to end on the June 15th which gives us very little time to make our voices heard.
Although this EIS and TMP state that "Over the Snow Vehicles" are excluded from this proposed action, it is NOT possible to talk about trails and mixed use without also talking about snowmobile access as well. All people that enjoy motorized access of all types must be involved in this process.

I encourage everyone to submit there comments to the following address:
