Can anyone tell me how much free play the belt should have ? And would you just measure that free play from a straight edge between the two clutches off the high side ? Trying to figure out if my belt is to loose.

Thanks all
Todd

600s should have about a 1/4 inch of deflection at around 14 lbs of pressure against belt . I would think your 503 would be similar

Wrong belt

Im talking about the belt for the clutches not the cog belt for final drive. Seems i can get them within about 4-5" when i squeeze then together, would judt like to know if thats to loose.

Thanks
Todd

deflection

Both the 6&8 require 32mm of deflection with 15lbs force against top of belt. use straight edge on top of belt and measure to belt. buy tool from dennis kirk for 35$

deflection

the 503 requires the same amount of deflection as does the 6&8. 32mm on 1 1/4inches. straight edge across top of belt to clutch to clutch press down with 15 lbs force and measure at middle of the 2 clutches.
