title pretty much says it. lost the only key to a 94 440 puma. is there a simple way to hotwire it so it doesnt require a key? if not, how does one go about getting another key? thanks.

I think you can just pull the brown wire off the k/s and use the kill p/b to stop it.....but not sure you will have to prove it.

I think up to about 98' arctic only had one key for all their sleds. Find another AC key older than 98' and give it a try, you got nothing to loose.

k/s= key switch and p/b= push button. sorry. the brown wire is most of the time the ground and this is how the motor is killed through the key by grounding the ignition.

Yeah. I think you got two wires going to the key switch. disconect them both and use the kill switch to operate. I am doing that on an 02 and I am not sure it was the same in 94.
If you have electric start that would be different.

To hot wire the system you need to take the 2 wires off the ignition switch and connect them as AC uses a normaly closed system in that year

Unplug the switch, cats run an open circut. When you turn the key on you are actually breaking the circut. Unless it is electric start.

Surprised so many people thought that you only have to disconnect the ignition switch wires on an Arctic Cat. I had to connect them to get it to work on a 94.

We have artic cats around here from 89-01' that all use the same key. My E-Z-Go golf cart key works in all of those as well. Most of them I will turn on and just pull the key out so I don't have to deal with it. That is if your not too worried about theft.
