Will a 153 track swap onto 155 rails?

Want to put a 3" 153 powerclaw on my axys. The 3" 156 has less than 1.5" left of adjustment on the rails. I could notch out for the rear wheel shaft enough to accommodate for 2" max but not sure if Ill mess with rigidity of the rails. Just wondering if I can do this with the stock rails.

Shouldnt the stock 3.00 pitch drivers work with the powerclaw if I just take out the center driver?

3" pc

Not sure if this would save you time or money but figured I'd throw it out there, but I seem to remember reading something last year that Carl's was offering center porting for the 3" powerclaw. Not sure if that's a route you'd want to take but again figured I'd throw it out there. Also keep us posted on how the 3" powerclaw performs on the Axys, I've heard nothing but good things about the track so far.

I just ordered avid drivers and an anti stab kit. Prob too expensive to send the track out and back to have it center ported. Thanks for the heads up though.

power claw

If the drivers are involute drivers, you don't need to run an antistab kit, but you can if you want. They make less vibration & are more efficient, I don't run an antistab kit on mine & have never had a problem. Also, its better you didn't port your track, it will float better, that was one thing I noticed going from my stock track ported track to the unported power claw.

Answer is no. Could not get front rear suspension arm to bolt up with the 3" 153 powerclaw and avid 7 tooth extroverts. Gonna have to get custom ice age rails. Tried every trick I could to get the stock rails to bolt in, just too long.

You could also try smaller rear wheels.

This is good to know b/c I wanted to do something similar. I have been running the 2.25 PC since 2011 and it is definitely superior to the previous 5.1 track. I'm actually surprised it wouldn't fit b/c the difference between the 155 and the 153 is only 1.44 inches (actual length is 154.44. 2.86x54) and the difference between 7 tooth drivers diameter is only .31 inches. So in theory you "should" only need 0.88 of an inch track adjustment. I was assuming that would be easy to get. I was hoping to even squeeze in the 8t 3.0 drivers but thought that would be pushing it. Plus was afraid it had the potential to be really hard on belts but you could produce so serious track speed. I'll have to look into it more. Might try to mount it up with the 7t myself just to prove it can't be done. (I only learn the hard way...) But that means I'll have to port the 2.25 PC as I already have the driver setup but was going to use that for the 3" PC and the 8t with the 2.25. Hmmmm, too many options. Thanks again for the info.

I ran the 2.25 also (8t drivers) and then switched to the 2.6PC 7t (so much better than the 2.25) and now running the 3" PC 7t. First mountain trip with the 3" next weekend!

Did you try putting it all in without the rear axle? If I recall that is how I put it together. Once the skid is in place and bolted in I then installed the rear axle.

Did you trim the front of the rails? That gives a little extra room to swing it in.

Strange, I have a 153x3 on my 11 pro 155. Wouldn't think the rails are that different.

The ProRide rails are sized at 155" in combination with 8 tooth drivers... The AXYS rails are sized at 155" in combination with 7 tooth drivers.

For a given track length/suspension... a larger driver will have a shorter rail and vice/versa.

If you lay the ProRide rail on top of the axys rail.... and align the front swing arm bolt holes... the ProRide Rail will be longer.

Hence you can put a shorter track on the ProRide rail.

I didnt try without the rear axle in. Ill give that a shot. The rails are trimmed 1.5" @ the front tips. Took off rail tips and have anti stab on instead.

Well skid bolts in without wheels on. But it's quite clear the rails are too long. Rails poke through track windows. Even then I placed a wheel in there and still won't have enough adjustment for them.

One thing everybody is forgetting! the axys with a 3-inch track has a 3in pitch so, the 155 is really a 156 track the pros and non 3in axys are all really 154 tracks(2.86 pitch), that's almost two inches difference!
